Random Warnings On Dashboard with NO Error Codes stored

Dashboard Tone randomly and Loose Gas Cap message comes up.This message goes off after few minutes. But again same problem exist.
Problem noticed on 2006 Jeep Liberty 3.7L.

The GAS-CAP message comes up on odometer and Dash board makes Warning Sounds.

WHAT SHOULD I START WITH?

First inspect the gas cap.If its loose or worn out of dirty.First try cleaning the gas cap and reuse same gas cap and see if that helps. But if problem is same then replace the gas cap with new Gas cap and see if that is helping to take care of this problem.

  • ACTUALLY GAS CAP IS REPLACED AND THERE ARE NO ERROR CODE STORED.

HAVE YOU EVER DEALT WITH THIS PROBLEM BEFORE?

YES,at out garage we have noticed this same as well as identical problems. This isn't unheard of and is something I've personally dealt with numerous times on a Liberty and other model vehicles too. It's not uncommon to have random warnings come up with no codes stored, the reason there are no codes stored is because there are no actual problems.

SO WHAT IS PROBLEM IN MY CASE?

This can happen with the gas cap warning, which is most common, but can happen with any warning lights. What's happening is the body control module (BCM) is sending false messages to the instrument cluster to turn these warnings on.There is issue with BCM.

IS THERE ANY TEMPORARY FIX?

A temporary fix when it's acting up is to disconnect the battery and let the BCM power down. These procedure resets complete electrical system of vehicle.
If it hasn't been done already I would recommend making sure the BCM software is up to date.

ALL SOFTWARE'S ARE UPDATED,ANY OTHER PERMANENT FIX?

If the software is up to date or updating it doesn't take care of the problem then the permanent repair is to replace the BCM. There was a possible software change for this mentioned while these problems were going on a few years ago, but BCM replacement ended up being the permanent repair. So getting the Body Control Module replaced will help.

OK,BUT WHERE IS BCM LOCATED?

On,2006 Jeep Liberty model,The BCM is fitted to the back side of the fuse box in the dash and controls many of the electrical features in your Jeep.

WHAT IS THE WORKING OPERATION OF BCM?

There are many other modules in your vehicle. The Ignition module,Engine control module, transmission module, etc.The Body control module acts as the communication gateway between modules because some of them communicate at different speeds, but need to communicate with each other. This is where the issue with the false messages to the instrument cluster comes in, because the BCM does the interpretation from other modules and is what sends the messages to the cluster.

This details will help.
Thanks.
