2005 Ford Freestar Power Lift gate will not operate.
Replaced Lift gate struts but still the same problem.
WHAT ELSE CAN BE THE PROBLEM?
If the Lift gate is not remaining open or its not getting open properly then its faulty Liftgate struts.
But if the Lift gate is not operating at all, then its faulty Lift gate module or its issue with short in wiring.
SO KNOW IS IT FAULTY LIFTGATE OPERATING MODULE?
There is a PLG (Power liftgate module). Before replacing any parts I do recommend proper testing first.
The power liftgate is inoperative
Circuitry.

SO KNOW IS IT FAULTY LIFTGATE OPERATING MODULE?
There is a PLG (Power liftgate module). Before replacing any parts I do recommend proper testing first.
The power liftgate is inoperative
Circuitry.
- Liftgate motor/clutch assembly.
- Liftgate optical sensor.
- Power liftgate latch.
- Power liftgate (PLG) module.
Any of this can be faulty and causing the problem.
GIVE ME MORE DETAILS ABOUT ITS WORKING AND VOLTAGE TESTING DETAILS?
This is actual procedure by which the Power Lift gate operates.
If the power liftgate is operated from the overhead console open/close switch, circuit 2054 (YE) is grounded by the open/close switch. Then the SJB grounds circuit 700 (WH/VT), which signals the PLG module of the open/close request.
This voltage should be there as mentioned below:---
Now assuming if the power liftgate is in the CLOSED position and the conditions are correct, the PLG module supplies 12 volts to the unlatch actuator on circuit 2058 (LB/RD) and 12 volts to the clutch on circuit 2062 (LG/RD) and 12 volts to the motor on circuit 2060 (RD/BK). As the liftgate is moving in the open direction, the PLG module monitors the position sensor for obstacles.
So test for 12 volts to this parts terminals.
Assuming if the power liftgate is in the OPEN position and the conditions are correct, the PLG module supplies 12 volts to the clutch on circuit 2062 (LG/RD) and 12 volts to the motor on circuit 2061 (VT/WH). As the liftgate is moving in the close direction, the PLG module monitors the position sensor and the pinch strips for obstacles.Test 12 volts to this parts terminals.
If the voltage is not there to any of this parts, then that particular part needs to be inspected and replaced,if checked out faulty.
OK,WHAT ARE POSSIBLE CAUSES?
To confirm exact fault, get the vehicles module scanned. This will let you know the error codes and as per that you can start .This are few most possible error codes which you will get in scan test. The scan test can be done by OBD II tool scanner or at local auto parts store.Autozone Auto Part do it for free.
