Oil Pan
Removal & Installation
2.0L & 2.2L Engines
- Before servicing the vehicle, refer to the Precautions Section.
- Raise and support the vehicle.
- Drain the engine oil.
- Remove the engine drive belt.
- On the 2.0L engine, remove the intercooler pump bracket bolts from the oil pan.
- Remove the lower A/C compressor bolt from the oil pan.
- Remove the oil pan bolts.
- Remove the oil pan.
To install:
- Make sure that the oil pan and mounting surface on the lower crankcase are free of all oil and debris.
- Apply a 2 mm bead of GM P/N 123785251 (Canadian P/N 88901148) around the perimeter of the oil pan and the oil suction port opening. Do not over apply the RTV. More than a 2 mm bead is not required.
- Install the oil pan.
- Install the oil pan bolts in sequence. Tighten the oil pan bolts to 18 ft. lbs. (25 Nm).
- Install the A/C compressor bolts. Tighten the bolts to 18 ft. lbs. (25 Nm).
- On the 2.0L engine, install the intercooler pump bracket bolts. Tighten the bolts to 18 ft. lbs. (25 Nm).
- Install the engine drive belt.
- Lower the vehicle.
- Fill the engine oil to the proper level.
- Before servicing the vehicle, refer to the Precautions Section.
- Raise and support the vehicle.
- Drain the engine oil.
- Remove or disconnect the following:
The accessory drive belt. Refer to Accessory Drive Belts removal and installationThe lower A/C compressor bolt.The 4 oil pan to transaxle boltsThe oil pan boltsThe oil panOld oil pan sealant
To install:
- Make sure the oil pan and sealing surface on the lower crankcase are free of all oil and debris.
- Apply a 2mm bead (1) of GM P/N 123785251 sealant around the perimeter of the oil pan and the oil suction port opening.
NOTEDo not over apply the sealant. - Install the oil pan.
- Install the 4 oil pan to transaxle bolts. Tighten the bolts to 55 ft. lbs. (75 Nm).
- Tighten the oil pan bolts in the sequence shown. Tighten the bolts to 18 ft. lbs. (25 Nm).
- Install the lower A/C compressor bolt.
- Install the accessory drive belt. Refer to Accessory Drive Belt removal and installation.
- Lower the vehicle.
- Fill the engine oil to the proper level.
