Crankshaft Front Seal
Removal & Installation
2.0L Engine
- Before servicing the vehicle, refer to the Precautions Section.
- Remove the accessory drive belt tensioner bolts.
- Remove the accessory drive belt tensioner.
- Remove the idler pulley bolts.
- Remove the idler pulley.
- Remove the alternator bracket and lift hook assembly bolts.
- Remove the alternator bracket and lift hook assembly.
- Remove the engine front cover bolts.
- Remove the long water pump bolt.
- Remove the engine front cover and gaskets.
- Remove the crankshaft front cover oil seal with an appropriate tool.
To install:
- Install the engine front cover with a new gasket.
- Install the long water pump bolt. Tighten the water pump bolt to 18 ft. lbs. (25 Nm).
- Install the engine front cover bolts. Tighten the engine front cover bolts to 18 ft. lbs. (25 Nm).
- Install the generator bracket and lift hook assembly.
- Install the generator bracket and lift hook assembly bolts. Tighten the bolts to 31 ft. lbs. (42 Nm).
- Install the idler pulley.
- Install the idler pulley bolts. Tighten the pulley bolts to 16 ft. lbs. (22 Nm).
- Install the accessory drive belt tensioner.
- Install the accessory drive belt tensioner bolts. Tighten the accessory drive belt tensioner bolts to 24 ft. lbs. (32 Nm).
- Before servicing the vehicle, refer to the Precautions Section.
- Remove the crankshaft damper.
- Remove the drive belt tensioner.
- Remove the engine front cover to water pump bolt.
- Remove the remaining engine front cover bolts.
- Remove the engine front cover.
To install:
- If removed install a new engine front cover gasket.
- Install the engine front cover.
- Install the engine front cover bolts. Tighten the engine front cover bolts to 18 ft. lbs. (25 Nm).
- Install the water pump bolt. Tighten the water pump bolt to 18 ft. lbs. (25 Nm).
- Install the drive belt tensioner.
- Install the drive belt tensioner bolt. Tighten the drive belt tensioner bolt to 33 ft. lbs. (45 Nm).
- Install the crankshaft damper.
- Before servicing the vehicle, refer to the Precautions Section.
- Remove the crankshaft damper. Refer to Crankshaft Damper removal and installation.
- Use a flat-bladed tool to remove the seal from the front cover.
