Camshaft (Cylinder Head) Cover
Removal & Installation
2.0L Engine
- Before servicing the vehicle, refer to the Precautions Section.
- Remove or disconnect the following:
To install:
- Install or connect the following:
The camshaft cover and bolts. Tighten the cover bolts to 89 inch lbs. (10 Nm)The ground strap to the camshaft cover. Tighten the ground strap stud to 89 inch lbs. (10 Nm)The ignition coils. Refer to Ignition Coil Pack removal and installationThe fuel feed pipe to the fuel railThe fuel pipe bracket. Tighten the fuel pipe bracket bolt to 89 inch lbs. (10 Nm)The PCV hose to the cam cover
- Before servicing the vehicle, refer to the Precautions Section.
- Remove the intake manifold cover:
- Remove the engine oil fill cap.
- Grasp the intake manifold cover by the lower right inboard corner and pull up to disengage the cover from the stud.
- Grasp the intake manifold cover by the upper left corner and pull up to disengage the cover from the stud.
- Remove the intake manifold cover.
- Remove or disconnect the following:
The air cleaner outlet resonatorThe ignition coils. Refer to Ignition Coil Pack removal and installation
The fuel pipe bracket nut (1)The fuel pipe bracket (2) from the ground strap studThe ground strap stud (3) from the camshaft coverThe ground strap (4) from the camshaft cover
The engine wiring harness clips (1) and (4) from the stud (2) and camshaft cover (3)The engine wiring harness clip from the camshaft coverThe camshaft cover boltsThe camshaft cover
To install:
- Install or connect the following:
The camshaft cover and bolts. Tighten the bolts to 89 inch lbs. (10 Nm)The engine wiring harness clip to the camshaft coverThe engine wiring harness clips (1) and (4) to the stud (2) and camshaft cover (3)The ground strap to the camshaft coverThe ground strap stud to the camshaft cover. Tighten the stud to 89 inch lbs. (10 Nm)The fuel pipe bracket to the ground strap studThe fuel pipe bracket nut. Tighten the nut to 89 inch lbs. (10 Nm)The ignition coils. Refer to Ignition Coil Pack removal and installationThe air cleaner outlet resonator - Install the intake manifold cover:
- Place the intake manifold cover onto the engine over the studs.
- Push down on the intake manifold cover directly over the lower right stud in order to engage the cover to the stud.
- Push down on the intake manifold cover directly over the upper left stud in order to engage the cover to the stud.
- Install the engine oil fill cap.
- Before servicing the vehicle, refer to the Precautions Section.
- Remove the intake manifold cover:
- Remove or disconnect the following:
The air cleaner outlet ductThe intake (3) and exhaust (2) camshaft position actuator solenoid valve electrical connectorsThe ignition coils. Refer to Ignition Coil Pack removal and installation
The engine harness clips (1) and (2) from the coverThe fuel feed line retainers (1) and (2) from the engine bracketsThe camshaft cover boltsThe camshaft cover
To install:
- Install or connect the following:
The camshaft cover and bolts. Tighten the bolts to 89 inch lbs. (10 Nm)The ignition coils. Refer to Ignition Coil Pack removal and installationThe engine harness clips to the coverThe feed line retainers to the engine bracketsThe intake and exhaust camshaft position actuator solenoid valve electrical connectorsThe air cleaner outlet duct - Install the intake manifold cover:
- Place the intake manifold cover onto the engine over the studs.
- Push down on the intake manifold cover directly over the lower right stud in order to engage the cover to the stud.
- Push down on the intake manifold cover directly over the upper left stud in order to engage the cover to the stud.
- Install the engine oil fill cap.
