Rear Door will not open

VEHICLE: Volkswagen Passat 2008 Year model.

PROBLEM:

  • Rear door will not open from outside.
  • Also If its faulty part, then what needs to be replaced and how?

TROUBLESHOOTING SOLUTION:---

First of all there are no adjustments on the rear door handle that can be done.

Its working is simple, the handle hooks into the door plate.
The door Plate sits behind the rear door skin.
Now when you pull the lever it pulls on a hinged plate that pulls a cable.
The cable is attached to the door latch to release the door
First part to be checked is that the handle is fully sitting/fitted into the hinged bracket,
See the help diagram shown below:----

Now if this is ok then the problem is either with the door latch or the cable.
Either the cable is broken or the door latch is worn out/cracked or broken.

See the help diagram shown below:---

MOST COMMON POSSIBILITIES:--

As per our garage repair experience. What we most notice on such problem is the door handle is not fully located into the hinged bracket to operate the door latch cable correctly.
If that is the same issue in your case too then to correct the issue you need to remove the door barrel to fit this handle.
Please note that  when loosing the torx screw to remove door handle , ensure the door handle is pulled out so it sets the hinged bracket in the correct position for you to remove and refit the handle, correctly.
If not done this way then you will miss the location point of the handle to hinged bracket behind the door skin and re-installing the parts will become confusion and more difficult.

These details will help.
Thanks.

Power Lift Gate Will Not Remain Open

2009 Chrysler Aspen Power Lift Gate will operate both manually ans by Power but will not remain open.

It has to be supported by hand to keep it up,otherwise it slowly comes down.

WHAT CAN CAUSE THIS PROBLEM?

This clearly indicates problem with the Struts.
The liftgate struts are weak. The struts are long the gas charged pieces that you see that run between the body and the liftgate on each side when you open it. The power liftgate actuator assembly starts the opening process, but the actual holding up of the liftgate, whether opened under power or manually, is the job of the liftgate struts.

BUT WHY THE STRUTS ARE NOT OPERATING?

Over time they become weak and can no longer do their job and need to be replaced. Its a common problem.Replacing your liftgate struts will be necessary to repair your problem.

This details will help.
Thanks.

2007 Mercury Mountaineer: Liftgate will not Unlock or Open?

Liftgate locked.
It will not unlock or open with key or any other source.

On the Liftgate there is a Glass Window. That glass will go close and open.
But complete lift gate will not unlock.

On most of such cases this problem is caused by a defective / faulty  liftgate latch operating actuator. Since the liftgate wont open it is very difficult to get the liftgate interior trim panel off without breaking it. It can be done its just not easy especially if you have never done it before.
To perform this task/ dis-assembly.
The lower grab handle needs to be removed then the panel is raised about 1 1/2" to disengage the retainer clips. Once the panel is off, the actuator lever needs to be moved manually to release the latch to open the liftgate. Once the liftgate is open, the liftgate latch needs to be removed to replace the actuator.

Its a Tricky procedure. Not difficult but needs proper experience and parts replacing knowledge.

This details will help.
Thanks.
